You know, I was wondering how come we had so many "landscapes" in this challenge, and I just realized that to non-English-speakers "lenscap" might look like "Landscape"...

It's an unnecessary simplification. I'm a "non-English-speaker" as you said and talked a bit about this lenscap-landscape play with some friends. We agreed that the reason of mixing these words can't be the lack of language skills. People even with a very basic photography and English knowledge (which they must have to register) have no problems distinguishing the words.
So, having limited English skills is no excuse, IMO. |

The lenscap landscape mixup was my first idea when I saw how many landscapes w/o lens caps there were in this challenge, I just figured maybe some translation site keeps mixing it up or something.... j/k but I really did think maybe it got mixed up... too many DNMC landscapes to be coincidence, or maybe there are a lot of other non-english speaking people who thought it would be a funny play on words, course I would have never figured that out and I am a more "out-of-the-box" thinker than a lot of people, but then again, english is my native language |
