Anyone know of a good way to test if your camera is focusing correctly? My last couple of submissions (including one of the current challenges) have received "a little out of focus" comments which I find impossible to improve on because both shots were taken with a tripod and timer. Is it possible for the camera to focus during the shot (green light on etc) but still produce an out of focus shot?
I'm a little worried that my camera might be faulty.
Thanks,

Yes, it is possible... here's a test I use to test focus & DOF:
Set up camera on tripod outdoors on a flat surface, e.g. concrete, in good light. Lay a tape measure along the ground, pointing directly outward along the lens axis, and focus on a known spot (use manual focus). The angle between the camera & tape should be low, but great enough that the markings are distinguishable.
Focus on the chosen mark at full wide aperture (center the mark in the DOF), trigger the shutter and review the results to see if the DOF is centered on the mark. Repeat the test at increasing F stops (don't move focus!). Repeat above procedure with other zoom settings if required.

Since I have the same cam as you sir, I would first start out by making sure you are not too close to the subject for the normal Cam use. Read up on the macro and super macro range of your 602. That would be first. Secondly what you can try focus on your subject by pressing the shutter control halfway down when it focuses go ahead and move the camera to the desired composition. If you have enough light you can stop down to f11 on your apperture. That will help. Personally I use the manual focus so I know it is right to a certain degree. Feel free to take a look at my archive. Have a wonderful night and I hope I was able to offer some useful information.
