First thing is to test your IP connection to see if VoIP will work. Check out //testyourvoip.com/
Quality of Service (QOS) is important for voice. Most people want the voice to have priority over all other internet traffic (there are some exceptions, like gaming). So the Vonage router should be the first router behind the DSL or Cable modem. |

Well, I went for Vonage, paid $5 extra shipping for 2 day delivery. It gets here and doesn't work. After an hour on my cell phone with a tech, doing things I had already tried, it seems Vonage hasn't allocated my device and likely won't be allocated until Monday. So, basically, I got effed out of $5 and am having to wait due to incompetence. Not happy at the moment. |

Ow. That sucks. Can I ask why the urgency? Why did you need 2 day delivery? Personally, I'd have gone to Best Buy over paying $5. |

Well I have had nothing but good experiences with them. I lowered my plan to a $10/month plan becasue we never use the damn thing. I then called them Friday to close becasue again we never use it. We mainly use our cell phones. The guy gives me two months free just to stay...............
If anyone wants to use vonage though pm me your email address and I will shoot you an e-mail to save and get the first 2 months free. It helps me as well. But you will get 2 months free.

Yeah, that case REALLY sucks. May have a chilling effect on VOIP in general. I hate big business... |

I always like to be fair... so...
I finally got an e-mail through to someone that understood the issue... within an hour the phone is working fine. From what I gather, the phone was not supposed to be shipped to me as soon as it had.
Call quality is very good. Talked for about 15 minutes earlier with no glitches.

What plan did you get? I am on the unlimited incoming calls and 100 outgoing minutes and it is only $10.99/month. One perk I like is being able to view everything online.

How did you get that plan? I don't see it online but I'd definitely switch to that. |

I went with the unlimited plan. I had been relying solely on my cell phone, which was getting expensive for me. I spend a lot of time on the phone, but not necessarily mobile. So, I am cutting my cell phone plan back and using Vonage as my primary phone. While I am home, I can have all the cell calls forwarded to the Vonage phone.

Well I had the unlimtied plan. We got the kids cell phones and we have our cellphones so the home phone was rarely used. I called to cancel and they offered that plan. Either way it is not listed on their site
You can go to your dashboard on //www.vonage.com and once you have logged in and click billing then click change your rate plan on the right and I see $14.99/month Basic 500 Minutes plan. If you call them they may still offer the Basic 100 plan.

Be careful. Some cellular providers charge airtime for forwarded calls.
You can (I think) have all your calls to the Vonage number ring on both vonage and your cellphone, either in order (e.g. 3 rings on the home line then the cellphone rings) or both phone lines at the same time. |
