good work, although the frame is not needed IMO :-)
nice work with levels so the contrast came out fine ...

I'm not sure if you use photoshop but the 2nd is surely better. However, If you do use PS, I would mask the ducks to separate them. Then I would level correct the back and foregound separatly from the ducks. Then I would adjust the ducks to lighten them up a little.

I don't have a "before" shot, but this duck is masked from the water.

Great to have you here to help.
I use GIMP.
I will try to level the ducks separately to see if it will do better.

Should I also level the shadows of the ducks with them?
