Omg, you must spend as much on gas as on mortgage! (or do you just live in your vehicle?)

Feels like I live in my car. The gas is manageable comparably. She trains with a National level coach, so it is well worth it. She Just placed 11th AA at regionals.

It IS worth it ! We travelled around Britain with our daughter - she was a long jumper at Elite level - from when she was 11 to 16. She had a fabulous time, she still is very fit, grew up too busy to get into any trouble and mixed with a great group of youngsters, both boys and girls who were friends as well as rivals. But the taxi service to training four times a week with meets at the weekends throughout the summer certainly took up the petrol and the time!

One word of warning - Leigh (my daughter) was aiming at the 2000 Olympics in Australia when she would have been 22, and could easily have made it but for a series of injuries that finished her career at 17. She had set her heart on an athletics career including university on a scholarship. It devastated her and took her years to come to terms with. She watched the opening ceremony of the Olympics with tears streaming down her face. Don't let your daughter rely on her gymnastics too much - one bad fall could end the dream. Leigh is fine now, very successful and happy, getting married this year and still working out regularly, and she looks back on those years with great memories.

Thank you,
She is very realistic at 11. She knows that she would have to train more hours and be home schooled to even have a shot at the Olympics. She would rather go to school. She also plays in the school band.

Right now scholorship is the goal, and her coach practices excellent training habits. Injury free is the only way to be. If the girls look tired or "not themselves" they get sent home. They also have a CPT on staff for evaluation of any injury, no matter how small. As long as she enjoys this, it will be a major part of our lives.

p.s. I also have a 17 y.o son who is going to university next year on a track scholorship. He is the state indoor and outdoor hurdling champ 2 years running. Placed 5th nationally last year indoors. Placed 2nd this year indoors (after breaking his leg playing soccer in the fall)

He long jumps 21', and runs the 300 hurdles in 38 secs.
im blessed to have such talented children......

Yea, I keep looking at the video clip when I need a laugh!

Here's a transcript of the interview;

Karen Bowerman: Guy Kewney is editor of the technology website Newswireless.com

KB: Hello, good morning to you.

Mr Goma: Good morning.

KB: Were you surprised by this verdict today.

Mr Goma: I am very surprised to see...this verdict to come on me because I was not expecting that. When I came they told me something else and I am coming. So a big surprise anyway.

KB: A big surprise, yeah, yes.

Mr Goma: Exactly.

KB: With regards to the costs involved do you think now more people will be downloading online?

Mr Goma: Actually if you can walk everywhere you are going to see a lot of people downloading the internet and the website and everything they want. But I think eh it is much better for development and eh to inform people what they want and to get the easy way and so faster if they are looking for.

KB: It does really seem the way the music industry's progressing now that people want to go onto the website and download music.

Mr Goma: Exactly you can go everywhere on the cyber cafe and you can take, you can go easy. It is going to be an easy way for everyone to get something to the internet

KB: Thank you. Thanks very much indeed.

Super Trouper beams are gonna blind me
But I won't feel blue
Like I always do
'Cause somewhere in the crowd there's you

I was sick and tired of everything
When I called you last night from Glasgow
All I do is eat and sleep and sing
Wishing every show was the last show
(Wishing every show was the last show)
So imagine I was glad to hear you're coming
(Glad to hear you're coming)
Suddenly I feel all right
(And suddenly it's gonna be)
And it's gonna be so different
When I'm on the stage tonight

Tonight the
Super Trouper lights are gonna find me
Shining like the sun
(Sup-p-per Troup-p-per)
Smiling, having fun
(Sup-p-per Troup-p-per)
Feeling like a number one
Tonight the
Super Trouper beams are gonna blind me
But I won't feel blue
(Sup-p-per Troup-p-per)
Like I always do
(Sup-p-per Troup-p-per)
'Cause somewhere in the crowd there's you

Facing twenty thousand of your friends
How can anyone be so lonely
Part of a success that never ends
Still I'm thinking about you only
(Still I'm thinking about you only)
There are moments when I think I'm going crazy
(Think I'm going crazy)
But it's gonna be alright
(You'll soon be changing everything)
Everything will be so different
When I'm on the stage tonight

Tonight the
Super Trouper lights are gonna find me
Shining like the sun
(Sup-p-per Troup-p-per)
Smiling, having fun
(Sup-p-per Troup-p-per)
Feeling like a number one
Tonight the
Super Trouper beams are gonna blind me
But I won't feel blue
(Sup-p-per Troup-p-per)
Like I always do
(Sup-p-per Troup-p-per)
'Cause somewhere in the crowd there's you

So I'll be there when you arrive
The sight of you will prove to me I'm still alive
And when you take me in your arms
And hold me tight
I know it's gonna mean so much tonight

Tonight the
Super Trouper lights are gonna find me
Shining like the sun
(Sup-p-per Troup-p-per)
Smiling, having fun
(Sup-p-per Troup-p-per)
Feeling like a number one
Tonight the
Super Trouper beams are gonna blind me
But I won't feel blue
(Sup-p-per Troup-p-per)
Like I always do
(Sup-p-per Troup-p-per)
'Cause somewhere in the crowd there's you
