IS it legal in Basic, or in Advanced, to combine 2 exposures from the same RAW file. Obviously in Basic you still wouldn't be able to do anything selective to either.
And secondly, in Basic, or in Advanced, is it legal to subtract a dark frame to remove hot pixels?
Thanks

It's legal in Advanced, because you are allowed multiple data layers.
Sorry, this is a no-go in basic.

does that include the hot pixels scenario??
damn nightshot III - I forgot to turn ON noise reduction until my last 2 shots, and there's so many hot pixels you can barely see the subject

No, you can't do anything with multiple data layers in Basic (including hot spots). Sorry... I can't think of anything legal that might help ya on this one.

Surely you mean "turn ON noise reduction"? I just leave mine on all the time, since it doesn't go to work until long exposures come into play, and when I am making those it only takes one for me to realize it's on and turn it off if I'm in a hurry...

lol yeah course I mean on, corrected myself. I've only had the camera a few weeks, and it was the first time I've been in a situation that needed it. It's sure staying on now, though.

Just to back up Fotomann... you can combine multiple layers processed from the same RAW file in Advanced Editing, but data layers are not allowed in Basic. You can't subtract a dark frame or stack images in either rule set because you would be using multiple originals.
