I've been shooting night shots, but everything I've taken looks as if somebody threw a handful of sparkly glitter on it. I can't get anything to upload right now, so I can't post a pic, but they're just single pixels that are red, white, and blue. Mostly white and blue. And these only appear on long exposures, when I'm shooting over a second or two in the dark.

Were you shooting with the internal flash? Sometimes the flash will light up dust particles in the air which can cause that sort of effect!

Mine does that too. I suspect it is the camera's sensor getting "warm" from the long exposure. (very unofficial, uninformed, unedumacated guess)

The good thing was that in my night shot, they looked like stars. :)

What ISO are you using? The higher the ISO, the more noise will appear, and in a dark shot, it can show up more than usual. I use my 300D for exposures up to 2 minutes, and I haven't found much issue with the sort of hot-pixels you're reporting.

However, as karmat said, the sensor heating up could be having an effect on it. On long exposures, it does get warm. However, "long" would usually be a bit longer than just a second or two - more like minutes.

See if you can post a shot sometime, so we can all take a look.

ISO 100, 15" exposure. I had the sensor replaced in October, and I haven't used my Digi in a while because I've been shooting a lot of 35mm, but I know I shot 1 to 2 minutes exposures before I had the sensor replaced without any graphic abberations.

EDIT: Could the sensor have possibly been damaged by exposure to intense light? I seem to recall first noticing it when I uploaded some pictures of a lightning storm.
