We all read about how long the company thinks our battery will last, and the magazine reviews give some number as well.
Real world use counts the most.
I finally ran down the battery in my 30D. Took 1,494 shots to do it. Veyr little flash, but lots of everyhing else, including a month in time.

I didn't count the numbers, but yesterday I was thinking about when I've changed my battery... I couldn't remember!
do you know how much Canon says? |

Can't remember off the top of my head but its in the manual, the number is over 1,000 shots though. I've noticed I'm getting around 1,000 to 1,200 with about 50% flash usage.
Its awesome... |

I've run down the battery in my XT in one day.. probably 400+ shots, and a lot of chimping. I think the chimping is what did it in sooner :P |

The chimping will shorten the life of the battery, so will IS. I leave my 20D and 1D MKIIn turned on most of the time (yes, even when packed away)and have to remind myself to charge the batteries before going out/away.
