Hello all. I just bought a battery grip from USA. The problem is that when I put the battery packs in and connect it to the camera (Canon 350D) I cant turn the camera on. I than take out the batterypacks that are in good condition and try to put it in the camera. But the camera fails to power up. Both battery packs where ok but after I put it in the grip they fail.
I put both battery packs into the charger and charge it for few seconds and then they work. What is causing this?

which on/off switch are you using to turn the camera on??? The battery grip has a on/off switch which just shuts off the grip controls on/off so you will still need to power up the unit from the top of the camera. Also, are you battery packs fully charged??? and is the grip installed right??? These may sound like moronic questions but since we can't see it, it helps.

edit to add: try using just one battery in the grip.

Thank you for your reply.
I have tried the on/off buttons. The battery packs are charged, but stop working after I try them in the grip. There is only one way to install it I think. I tried just one battery without luck.

is it screwed on the bottom right/tight and did you take the battery cover off of the camera and clip it inside??? I'd suggest breaking it back down to scratch and starting again just on the even that you missed something like removing the plastic cover on the end or something small like that. Good luck tho and sorry I couldn't have been more help.

No problem.
All plastic covers have been removed. No such problems.

Did you make sure the tray which you insert into the grip is all the way in? You have to turn the little piece on the side like a ley to close the grip.

Yes, and the funny thing is that the battery tray seems to work in another grip. But not this one.

Did you test the grip with regular batteries instead of the battery pack? In Europe they're called AA batteries.

Sounds like could be a faulty grip perhaps or something wrong with the connections of it!
