The idea, no -the experience of love, awakes in us a sense of oneness of all people and things. The practice of love unites and, when combined with the power of thought, reduces doubt and fears.

A mind in the service of beauty and truth is not scattered and busy splitting hairs.
A man who loves is not lonely, disillusioned or evil.
Instead, he accepts his need to dissociate, recognizes his responsibility to act upon thinking and remains discreet about his extraordinary skill to wake the dead and enthuse even matter.

I think love is quite real. However, associating love with the heart is an illusion.

Doesn't this lead back to the cliche' theoretical question; "if a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear, does it make a sound?"

Yes.

Maybe next week's Creative Thinking Exercise eh?

While we're on it, Google defines sound as
(a) Oscillation in pressure, stress, particle displacement, particle velocity, etc., in a medium with internal forces (eg, elastic or viscous), or the superposition of such propagated oscillations. (b) Auditory sensation evoked by the oscillation described above.
(from //users.aol.com/inceusa/glossary.html)

So yes, the oscillations are there but no, the auditory sensation is not. Bringing us back to the whole point that our senses are tangible because of how our brain reacts to stuff in our environment

Is that dance slowing in the mind of man
That made him think the universe could hum?
The great wheel turns its axle when it can;
I need a place to sing, and dancing-room,
And I have made a promise to my ears
I'll sing and whistle romping with the bears.

. . .

A caged bear rarely does the same thing twice
In the same way: O watch his body sway!ΓΆ€”
this animal remembering to be gay.

. . .

I take this cadence from a man named Yeats;
I take it, and I give it back again:
For other tunes and other wanton beats
Have tossed my heart and fiddle through my brain,
Yes, I was dancing-mad, and how
That came to be the bears and Yeats would know.

From Theodore Roethke's Four for Sir John Davies

I do believe that's "love" he's talking about, in the largest manifestation of it; and I like the bears :-)

Love is a silly thing, with so many different faces you never know which love is the right love or even the true love if such a thing exists.

You seen when two people meet, there is not love in such a way as there is Lust, an animal attraction drawing a strong intense desire to mate.

However, you can Love your children in a sense of meaning a strong connection to protect and nourish.

You can Love your Camera in a Strong sense of protection.

You can love Spaghetti and Meatballs with Fresh Garlic Bread, buttered Beans and small side salad with Blu Cheese dressing and crutoins in the sense of self gratification and body fulfillment.

You can Love a Tv Program in the sense of allowing the fantasy to take you away from reality in a self gratifying way of escape.

There are many different types and styles you can forbore.

But when it comes down to the nitty gritty, it is simply an emotion felt, and without physical substance it is imagined.
