Here are two shots from my new lens. Both were taken at 1/15 sec F16 ISO 600ish (forgot to write down). Both were handheld at 200mm. This is amazing considering the old way I would have had to have shutter of at least 1/200 sec to get close to sharp. In fact these were taken inside the house with no flash.

Adjusted levels only and cloned out my daughter's name on the book !

Can you see the difference. Comments?

First one is with VR off.

The next one is with VR on.

I have the 70-200 VR and it is also amazing. Good choice for a new toy.

What does the 18-200 VR run price wise?

About $799 retail....you'll have to wait about 3 months for it.

On Ebay between $799 and $1024 ! I got mine for $860 (not bad)

Really nice stuff. I found with my S2 IS that if I can keep the relatively still, the IS can correct for a lot of minor shake. This can translate to shooting quite a few stops below normal hand-held.

When you get to the limit of hand-held speeds without IS/VR, you immediately notice the shake, even if it's quite minimal. With IS/VR being used, it can smooth out a lot of low-level bumps.

I sometimes shoot 1/20 handheld at an equivalent of 300+mm... Can be done if you are careful.
