For those interested...

METEOR SHOWER: Earth is about to pass through a stream of dust from
Halley's Comet, and this will produce the annual eta Aquarid meteor
shower. The shower peaks on Saturday, May 6th, with 10 meteors per hour in the northern hemisphere and as many as 60 meteors per hour in the
southern hemisphere. The best time to look is during the hours immediately before sunrise on Saturday morning.

PHOTO OP: On May 7th, the biggest fragment of dying comet
73P/Schwassmann Wachmann 3 will glide by the Ring Nebula in Lyra. The view through backyard telescopes should be wonderful. This is an opportunity for astrophotographers to take some rare photos of a comet and a planetary nebula side by side.

I knew this would be the case, but I looked anyway... after many days of clear blue skies, the extended forecast calls for rain, showers, plagues of locusts and anything else that would block out the night sky for the forseeable future. ;-/

Has Connecticut EVER not had clouds or rain for a meteorlogical event in it's viewing space?

I have seen countless meteor showers, eclipses, etc....for some reason they ALL look the same. In fact, they ALL looks like clouds!

You'll just have to wait until August 12 for the Perseids for a great shower. No comet though.

It's very rare. We had one good show for the Leonid Meteors about 5 years ago, but that's about it. I think your best chance of seeing a meteor or comet in Connecticut would be waiting for one to land here.
