Saw this linked at another site and thought it would interest some. I am looking to upgrade from PS6 to CS2, so was looking for ideas on when CS3 would hit the market (my luck would be a week after I buy CS2).
"Creative Suite 3 will be introduced in the second quarter of 2007. Acrobat will take advantage of the Macromedia assets. And you'll see a lot of activity in the CS3 launch. There will be a lot of integration between [Macromedia] products and [Adobe] products as part of those offerings. By the time we launch CS3, the value of the two companies will be clear."

No idea where this leaves Fireworks and Freehand? I assume there will be some serious linkage between Dreamweaver and CS3 but that's a guess.

My guess is that FreeHand will be absorbed into Illustrator. Perhaps Dreamweaver will replace GoLive. |

As side note ... rumor has it that Apple has laid off the entire Aperture development team. Leaving lightroom to rule the roost and Bridge flopping on the deck

That would be my guess as well (I don't use illustrator, so not sure how close it is to freehand but suspect they are close from what I have heard). He is still talking in terms of both tool sets - Might just be him not wanting to give away too much. Fireworks is a long way from Imageready so not sure. |

FreeHand and Illustrator are virtually identical vector-based illustration programs. I've never liked creating anything in either, but as a service-bureau operative, until recently FreeHand had the better printing interface. |
