Hey...it has been 1 year today 4/28/06 since I got my first DSLR. The D70. My new 18-200 VR lens arrives Monday.

Camera working fine after nearly 10,000 shots.

Sing to me !

Congrats, it is a nice friend isn't it :-)

How do you keep track of the number of shots?

I never did change the "default' setting that the d70 stores. It names each file with the next number. Today, if I take pictures the files will be named will be 9780, 9781, etc

That's what I do with my Canon cameras.
Has the added benefit of never dupicating file names - so when I edit a pic i keep the 4 digit number as part of the file name - from the RAW file all the way to the web jpg. If I want to find the original to this image:

I know 0487 will be in the file name in all edits/copies/versions.

The only issue with this is I now have a 30D and replaced my 300D with a 20D...two cameras currently at differing counts, but one day they will converge (30D at 900 now and the 20D at 4100 - the 30D is my main cam, the 20D backup and for weddings)

This is already happening - my 30D is 'duplicating' file names/numbers form the 300D...so 0487 also brings up this image (from a day playing with the 30D)

That's why I also append the date to the beginning of each image name.
