My bill paying money comes from being a journeyman Tool and Diemaker. I decided about 3 years ago I wanted to go to college. So I enrolled in the University of Wisconsins Engineering, Technology and Management program. I was only part-time, 6-9 credits per semester. I was on my way to getting a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Management. I completed about 85 of the 123 credits before it became to much to handle. I just couldn't work 10 hrs a day, have a family life or any life for that matter and do all the work and study. So I took up photography. I always did like taking pictures and the digital revolution made it more enjoyable and less of a hassle. I'll never make a living out of it but it's fun and my own little stress relieving hobby.
Too much information??

On the weekends, I wear a tights and a cape, have a martini glass on my chest, and I fight for the common good of all bar flys.
During the weekday I just break my back (at union wages)for someone elses glamour.

I architect and design large complex computer systems, enjoy reading all sorts of books, used to play bass guitar and Chapman Stick (but ran out of time - sigh) and am now trying to be better at everything else in my life, especially husband and father!
I also take bad photos (which is why I am here :-) and am writing a fiction book. Currently registered to do a part time PhD with the glorious title of "Ontologies and Taxonomies for Business Architecture Artifacts" - whatever that is.
Oh, and a full time gadget head!
uck! I guess I ought to add "appears to be arrogant" as well - but is a nice guy really!

I've always heard that software developers for investment banks are the most sought after gigolos. ;-P |

Radiologist.......I scan patients, and make amazing cool 3D reconstructions of their insides....mostly cancer patients, but any aspects of diagnostic medical imaging, really.
Sooo, I can see right through you!
And in my off time, scarce as it is, I am a dad, husband, gardener, slave, and frustrated would-be photographer. |

Sinky, I'm a radiology tech. - the peon that actually takes the images that you docs get to read. I work in the emergency department on the midnight shift of a Level 2 trauma center.

Whee, my life story!
I'm an Exploration Geologist, which is a totally cool occupation, almost as totally cool as being a Ninja.
I started out spending summers working & camping in the bush. I spent weeks sitting in the front seat of a helicopter with the pilot, navigating by map and telling him to set down here & there so I could hop out & grab a sample. Sometimes the blades would whippersnip branches on the way down into narrow valleys, sometimes he'd "toe-in" on the side of a hill & I'd get out & in while he hovered, sometimes I'd drink too much beer the night before & feel like barfing on tight turns. He landed on the backpack I was holding, once, when he came down to pick me up in a streambed outcrop he wasn't able to set down in. I spent a summer coming back from a days work night after night, with a face sore from smiling ear-to-ear because I had so much fun four-wheeling in a big government truck on ATV trails day after day.
I'd followed up on one of my hobbies (rocks) and went to university for geology. I worked as a geologist for ten years, working my way up the ladder from field-work to computer work, then the bottom fell out of gold in 1998, I lost my job & couldn't find work unless I was willing to move to the far north, which I wasn't.
I'd developed an interest in computers over the last few years, so I used my unemployment as an opportunity to buy several PC's, read some books, and write lots of exams to get some certifications. The standard A+ and MCSE. I thought there might be a glut of this sort of thing, but figured I could sell myself better than most, so I did it.
Shortly after, I was working for an insurance company as the IT Manager. I was thrown in head-first & really did a lot of learning on the fly, it was great experience, but I couldn't stand the CEO, so after a year I quit & went to work for a tech support company. Not phone support though, I travelled around & did everything from basic support to Citrix farms.
After a year there, that company began running into financial trouble & stopped paying me. I stopped working for them & said I'd start again as soon as they caught up on my paychecks, they said they couldn't. A few of their clients, plus one of their largest clients, were my responsibility. The clients had my cell phone number and always just called me. When they called, I told them about the situation & that they should call the office to get another tech. They said they didn't like any of the other techs but liked me. I had no non-competition clause, so I said I'd take them on as my own clients.
I set up my own business and made much more money than when I was working for the man. I got an angry phone call from them, but that was it, and they did eventually make good on my paychecks. With their largest client gone, they were finished & went out of business shortly after. Don't give me shit for this. I was looking out for my wife and two daughters.
Eventually, my largest client went into receivership and was taken over by another company, too far away for me to bother with, though they did ask me to stay on.
As serendipity would have it, the price of gold was on the way up and I got a call from a previous employer of mine who'd taken over as CEO at another exploration company. That's where I've been for the past three years.
Now I'm a rabbid photo-hobbyist.

Well, a little of this and a little of that! Spent 17 years in the auto business as a parts manager, and left in 2000 to be a car paint sales rep and spray technician. (I can sparay a mean paint job on a car!!) Then, when I lost all the fingers on my left hand due to a F$%#-up at the hospital, I was out of work for 1 month, only to go back to work and get laid off a week later. At 45 it's hard to get a job making $50grand a year....so I decided to go into business for myself.
I now am a creative "canner"...making some of the best pickles, jams & jellies, ice cream fruit toppings, biscuit spreads and recipes of my own you'll ever eat!!
I buy and sell real estate on Bid4Assets, presently owning 7 properties in the Belen,NM and Las Vegas area..my little nest egg.
I also have a small business called "Moving Memories and more..." making personalized DVD's with pictures and music. I just picked up a job shooting all of the kid's sports at a local military installation, also do family portraits and other outings.
I make blankets and quilts, and I'm also an artist...I draw and paint and do sub-work @ Busch Gardens.
Outside of that, I live here @ DPC trying to better myself with cameras in hand!!
