Why does it say you should wait 24 hours after printing a photo to place it into a photo ablum or frame?

I've just started to print out photos, so any explanation would be helpful.

Thanks

The ink probably needs a little time to dry. You don't want nasty finger prints on the artwork.

What Yoshio said. I was working with someone who printed a whole bunch of photos and put them in an album right away and a bunch of the ink stuck to the page protectors.

Makes sense.

I stick my 8x11's into (heavy duty) page protectors too, is there any thing better to place them in? The darker/black areas really seem to stick to the protector.

Check with an art supply store and get some spray fixative. It's probably toxic, but a little should "seal" the surface of the print. There are different types, so check that it's compatible with the ink/paper combo you are using.

Or order photographic prints through DPC Prints (or a competitor) and they should be dry and stable enough by the time you get them that you can mount them right away.
