Hey yall,
Have just been looking at some of my outdoor photos, and realized that my skies are often way over exposed. I was just wondering how people get their skies to look so brilliant. What techniques do you use in PS? Is it as simple as dodging and burning? I find that when I apply this technique it is very easy to wash out the colors. Would love to hear/see what you do for your photos that include blue skies. Thanks!

Some use graduated neutral density filters. Depending on your subject, you can also meter for the sky and use fill-flash on your subject.

A lot of the time, the photographer may use a Polarizer Filter on their camera lens.

Using different layers you can mask out the sky/top and work it separately from the bottom/landscape and recombine the different layers may also work. |

I use 'curves' adjustments to reduce sky over exposures, but a polarizer at the time of exposure works wonders. |
