I'm trying to downsize an image that has no jaggies in full size, but when I reduce to 640 pixels, jaggies pop up all over! I suspect this is due to the fact that for this particular image, I need to downsize in even increments - true? Suggestions? Thanks in advance! |

CS2
Can't seem to get the jaggies to disappear in the smaller size. Even if I choose an even numbered division of the original number of pixels, I'm still getting jaggies. Eh, I suspect it's one of those things with which we must deal when playing with digital pictures? |

Select View>Actual Pixels and see if they are still there. Sometimes the monitor cannot accturately reproduce the image on the screen although the image is usually correct otherwise. |

Try doing your resize with the image in 16 bit mode. That might help.

Yep, they're there in actual pixels view.
Fotomann, I'll try the 16 bit thing. Otherwise, the jaggies are just gonna be an artistic statement. :-) Thanks for the tips, folks! |

in the save for web option there should be an option for different types of saving, play around with those and it may help, i remeber having this problem in the past :)

just a suggestion by try a cropping it down. ie. if your photo is 30x42 then try using an 8x10 crop or something similar to decrease the image size. |

Are you using the Image Size command as described in this tutorial? If so, I can't imagine that it's creating jaggies. Review your workflow carefully and make sure no settings have been mistakenly changed. I looked over some of your past entries and they're fine. Have you changed the way you're resizing?
