I want SC to validate my "negative" shot. Do I need to send them the original and the final? If so, how do I do it? There is only room to upload only one file per request.

| It's not possible to validate an image before voting starts (due to the possibility that a 'validated' image could be replaced), but you can ask for SC opinions on legality. Just use the Contact menu to submit a ticket. |

You can make a new image with the resized original and the prospective entry placed side-by-side; then you can submit just the one image with the ticket for easy comparison.
If you have a legal image you think people may consider suspect for illegal editing, you can request an "Administrative Note" once the voting has started by clicking on your image from the voting page and following the link you'll find there.
