A technical question that maybe canon uses can help me with. I have a Canon 350D that has a EFS 18-55 3'5-5.6 II lens on it that I use. I also have a EF 28-80 3.5-5.6 IV USM lens of my old SLR. It was a nice lens on the SLR. My question is - is it a better lens than the EFS lens that came with the 350D and should I be using it instead. I realise that there is a slight difference in the focal length (18 verses the 28) but is it a better opical lens ? Any thoughts ? |

Thanks Yido
The information is very informative. Another request. You seem to have a fair amount of knowledge regarding lenses. I have read a fair few postings regarding lenses but am still none the wiser. If I was to get a "live on" lens for my 350D (my wife wants her 28-80 lens back) - but would you suggest? I don't have an unlimited budget but would like to get the best quality possible without paying hundreds for a lens that is only slightly better than the one I'm using. I have always thought that the camera makers (canon/nikon etc) would have the best - but I realise that this is possibly silly (the EFS 18-55 is proff of that). Other companies make only lenes - therefore are possibly better. What are your thoughts ? Also is it better to get a non digital lens so that it will fit on a standard SLR or the new digitals when they go full sensor (such as the new canon - I hear they are less forgiving over poorer quality lenses). Your thoughts (or anyone elses) would be appreciated. |
