We went to Durango today, and I found a longer sync cable for my flash at the camera store, so when we got back I went out to try some shots with the flash mounted on the tripod off camera. It seems to work pretty well for macros - I found a bee flying around and eating some pollen from flowers, and took several shots of it; this one was best.
I'm starting to like macros now that there's so many little things to take pictures of since it's spring.
A shot of the same batch of flowers from yesterday with the 70-210:

Bump.
Are they that poor quality? If so, maybe tell me what else I should point the camera at, or something ;p |

They look good. I like them both.
I would say first one is super cool, great shot. It may be a tad overdone maybe....but i like it, great find.
The second one, is nice but the DOF really does not do the photo justice. It just seems to make you want more crispness on some of the flowers.

I really like the bee one....I also like the macro of the grape hyacyths too...I think I would of prefered the focus to be more centered. (probably against some rule :-) )

Thanks for the comments. You're both probably right about the focus and the DOF in the second pic - I was trying out the 210 at the long end at 2.8 to play with really shallow DOF. |
