Doesn't say anywhere that she did not want to use Blue tooth, she wants access anywhere , #1 and #2, your solution also gave Blue tooth as an option and lastly, the link wasn't posted as an option to purchase that item, only to show how easy and simple it is to find these items without going through all of the rigmarole that you suggested, on top of the "Plan on spending a lot of time reading..." comment, please, it's not necessary.

My route cost me nothing as well, not sure why you had to point that out....as a side note, to make sure no one is 'fooled' with a couple minutes research I found that the only difference between the V3 and V3c by Verizon is..the 'C' uses Verizon's new menu system and it is slightly bigger and heavier than the original V3, other than that, they're the same phone.

The difference between the V3 and the V3C is that the V3C is a CDMA phone and the V3 is a GSM phone. These are different technologies - you can't connect a GSM phone to a CDMA network. I actually agree with your sentiment that generally things are not as compicated as some people make them out to be, but google is not a Delphic oracle that will magically answer all questions. I stand by my original assertion that Howard Forums is a great place to learn about cell technology.

But you are right to get back to the original question, we are way off track. There are 2 main ways to wirelessly connect to the internet - via WiFi/WLAN/802.11 or whatever you want to call it and via a cell network. WiFi/WLAN/802.11 will only work in hot spots, which can usually be found in and around most big cities, cell will work where ever your cell phone is.

I use SBC (now AT&T) dsl at home and pay an additional $1.99 per month to have free unlimited access to their affiliate wireless base. There are thousands of locations that give free wireless through this around the USA. Places include McDonalds, UPS stores, Barnes and Noble Book stores, hotels airports etc etc. For $1.99 it's real easy and worth it.

Hmm...I don't need any service to use the tablet wireless. Just traveling to Chicago this week I got wireless in the Albany airport, Chicago airport, hotel, convention center. I have no accounts with anyone. No cell phone either. Just my home cable modem. I have a wireless capable tablet PC. I tell it to search for a WLAN and it finds all available in the area. I pick one and connect. If it finds a hotspot I usually use those. Sometimes it finds a bunch. In Albany airport it found 9 possible wireless connections of which it would connect to 3 with no accounts or anything.

She wants to be able to access the internet when she is camping, at the rest area, hotels/motels without internet access.
