I have just received my "FIRST" comment on one of my current images in a challenge from a "Site Council" representives.

I am stoked as this is a first for me, in all my 17 challenge entries..... Have others had this experience.

I look up to site council representives, and also to the DPC members who are well known.

These are often ribbon winners, and so look forward to their comments, as they have the experience and great photography skills, to teach us what are we doing right or wrong.

I have two images that mean a lot to me, and was so excited they reached tenth position in a challenge. No comment from any of the above, until after the results were announced. What does this say.

I not grumbling about this, or picking on any of you, as I so look forward to comments on my work, either good or bad, as thats how I learn.

We are all equals before a challenge, so I just don't understand why this is so.

I love DPC, and just think it would be great to see our top representives, and out top photographers, actually see their name with comments on a wider scale of images entered in challenges.

Am I wrong in saying this, and if so, I apologise now, as I definately do not want to upset anyone, as you are all doing a great job, and I admire each and everyone of you.

Thank you for your time.

I am abysmal at commenting, mostly because I am busy doing other things while I'm on DPC and also because I suck. But I haven't won a bunch of ribbons either so I'm not really in the realm of greatness whereby people feel blessed to receive comments from me. ;)

Thank you for your honesty.....

I do hope my comments won't upset anyone, as I often hope to see comments from my most admired photographers, and also site council reps.

I don't know why, as I receive so many comments from so many DPC members and love each and everyone of them.

I used to vote and comment with 100% all the time, before becoming a full member.

Due to entering challings, I still try to vote 100%, but now try to comment on at least 50%, unless my health issus are playing up.....

Yeah, thats a pretty darn good feeling. The odds just are not in anyones favor. Just so many entries.

But, I can certainly relate.

I can't speak for other photographers, but as for myself... as my photography has improved, my photography business increased. I still hold a full-time job AND about 50 hours a week toward photography. I now find myself with far less time to vote/comment than I had even a year ago. The comments I manage to leave now are mostly the ones requested in forums when I can or the occasional challenge comment if I really think I can help a photographer to improve.

That said -- I do manage to answer PMs and emails from DPCers on a daily basis which are mostly questions regarding technique, etc. And I have taken on a mentee lately as well.

I'm sorry that I can't mentor 450+ members every week, but I do feel that I contribute when I'm able.

I do nearly all my "commenting" in the forums lately. I have come to realize that challenge comments are just that: "comments" as opposed to critiques. When somethign happens to catch my interest, usually in a positive way, I will comment to that during a challenge, but I mostly reserve my critiquing for people who have requested it. Like cindi, I find myself busier than usual lately, so this seems a better use of my time. And I do like being a part of the various give-and-take threads that aren't even specifically related to photo critique or technique, so that takes time too but I enjoy it.

I'm with ya though; every now and then I get a comment from someone I really admire and it makes me feel happy.
