Hi,
I just got a canon eos 20d and loaded the software, etc on my computer with windows xp. The software loaded normally and the camera is seen by the computer. The camera is recognized but the computer does not see any of the pictures on the cf card. I tried to reformat the card and take more shots but, still, the cf card is not read. In windows explorer and in the automatic picture utility in windows, it shows empty folders and the utility says "there are no pictures on your camera."
Thanks for any help.

Are you shooting Raw format? Windows XP can not see raw files without some kinda patch. Try downloading Irfanview. It's a fast small file viewer and does see most raw files! |

I had the same troubles when I first unloaded from my 20d .. so I used a card reader and transfered all my pics that way .. it was slow though so I'm sure there is a better way .. (have XP Pro, never had any trouble with my 300d and all shots were RAW) |

Does the 20D have a setting that switches it from USB to programable mode? I have to have my D70 on USB to trasfer files.
Does the camera see the images on the card?
Does a card reader?
Microsoft's RAW thumbnailer and viewer allows WinXP to see RAW files.

Did you format the card in your computer or in the camera?
if this was the case then it wouldn't be in the camera would it..
are you shooting RAW or JPEG?
what communication setting do you have set on the camera?
have you tried rebooting your PC with the camera un-plugged?
have you tried un-plugging and pluging the camera in - or did you do this when you took the shots?
when you say xp can't see the pictures, can you see the containing folders on the card?
can u post a screen shot of what you see on your screen? |

thanks everyone for your help. Yes, the problem was that I used RAW format and windows was not reading it. I have switched to jpeg for the moment. |
