Hi,

I'd like to see some samples of photos from the 10D's directly out of the camera, untouched, with the camera set in AF mode (green square). Please tell me what lens you used, too. I'd like to see what others get versus what I got. I'd be especially interested in anyone who has the same lens I had Canon 28-105 f4.6-8.

Thanks heaps,
Renee

I have a new 10D and finally got a couple of hours to shoot photos at a local fair. I was hoping to get some shots for the "Inside looking out" challenge while learning the new camera. Autofocus was a little tricky until I set it to only use the center point. I'll post a couple shots straight from camera as soon as I can get home from the office.

Just as a note. I think autofocus is set on the lens. The Full Auto mode (green square) tells the camera to set all functions, including flash. You can still get autofocus when using the other shooting modes.

Hi Renée. I had posted some images on PBase when I first got my camera. Here are some samples. I just resized them. No other editing.

Here are some examples with the Canon 28-135mm IS

Here are some examples with the Canon 75-300mm IS

This is the next day at a zoo. The colors look blah because the snow had just melted and the sky was very overcast. I did do a bit of post processing ... Levels and USM.

10D at the zoo.

Good luck with your camera.

Here´s some pictures from my trip to the Kolmarden Zoo in Sweden last Friday and Saturday. I have just rezised them. I´ll give you the full exif from a "typical" shot. You can see there that I use +1 on both sharpness and saturation. I also like darker pictures therefore -1/3 on exposure compensation. All this can of course be done afterwards.

Thanks for your photos. Can I ask one more question -- what type of post-editing do you do? Do you use the supplied photoshop?

You've helped me by sharing your photos. Thanks again!

The supplied photoshop is really good. Photoshop Elements, I think. The most important post shot editing are 1) Levels, 2) Unsharp Mask, and 3) the ability to crop. With those 3 tools you can have great controle over the image for displaying on the Web and for printing.

Bye the way ... the images are a bit soft out of camera with the 10D but it responds very well to Unsharp Marsk.

Have a look at Phil's samples from his 10D review. There are 27 of them across the top, and you can get the full-resolution, direct-from-camera JPEG's for any of them. The 10D is a great camera, and a good value for what it is capable of -- I love mine, even if I can't take ribbon-winning photos like Jacko!

The Canon SLR talk forum and Canon SLR Lens talk forum at DPReview.com has more sample pictures from the 10D and assorted lenses than you could shake a stick at...

If you can afford it buy the IS lenses

um, most of my photos are processed after (i always use RAW and convert). Here are some photos that are straight from camera after i bought it.

50 mm lens samples: //photography.consultku.com/10d_samples
50 mm lens and 70-200mm F4L: //photography.consultku.com/ladybird/

But to get the best out of the camera, it's best to use RAW and sharpen later:

70-200mm F4L: //photography.consultku.com/4_19_2003/

20-35 mm, 50mm, and 70-200mm F4L: //photography.consultku.com/rocky/

Here are a couple of samples straight from the camera. This was my first afternoon of shooting with a new 10D and the composition is not great, but they should be ok for this discussion. The only editing I did was to resize for posting here...
