My first proper baby shoot, please take a look and see what you think. Comments are always welcome

very good as a first shoot, kids are always hard to photograph :)
here's some critique on the images, short but to the point :)

1. the focus is very soft, try playing with curves to sharpen it
2. very good selective desat, might desat the ball just a bit to bring out the eyes.
3. light on white is very hard to do well, you made it a bit too light, it needs some more details in the face.
4. lovely image, great background, most beginners don't go down to the models level.
5. very good, a bit oversaturated, desat about 5-10% will make it perfect
6. lovely, great use of DOF.

I think #4 is the best, but with proper adjustments #3 would become the best.

cheers Dan

it was really hard to shoot, she wouldn't sit still for a second (obviously I don't have children otherwise I would have known that!!! :) )

Can I add a couple of points for discussion.

Pictures
1) I used a radial blur on a mask to achieve focus only on the centre on purpose, might offer two different choices for the people.
2) Funny you should say that I produced another picture where just the eyes are selected, for exactly that reason, I think I'll desat the egg a little as per your suggestion.
3) Point taken I'll have a play
4) Sorry what is the models level?
5) Having looked again I completely agree
6) Thanks

btw I enjoyed every second of this, the shot and the post processing, just was a little nervous at the beginning, once she smiled at me for the first time though I was happy!

most beginners just stand with the camera at their height shooting down at the child, but when the photographer starts laying on the ground for a better angle is the first sign of professionalism (if that's a word)

it just means that you did a good job finding the best angle for the shoot :)

These are great for a first shoot!

I've not tried babies yet, but I shoot my daughter just about every day. And let me tell ya, a strongwilled 5yo is not easy lol. But I've found the spontaneous shots are so much better anyways. You really captured this lil one well!
