Hi all,

I just wanted to ask how you dicide your prices on DPCprints?
- do you think about the photographic quality of pictures or just the base price?

I was just realizing that my prizes were far to high, so I lowered them ;)
- Start buying from me now! :þ

but the question, dont forget the quiestion!

I have set prices depending on size (8x10=14.95) and I have a list of ALL sizes - I update the list when I'm going to change prices and then I just plug those values into each print of that size.

I recently made all my small (4x5, 4x6) prints $1, so that people can try an almost-free sample before they spend a lot.

For the enlargements, I'm using a formula of (approximately) inches wide by 12-inch length, e.g. an 8x12 is currently $8, I think a 16x20 would be $32. If people suddenly start snapping them up, maybe I'll raise the price, but I'm standing by waiting for a few nibbles right now.

I think there are two distinct markets for photos among private individuals; those who are looking for something nice and inexpensive to decorate their walls (e.g. college students, family, and anyone making less than $20/hour), and people who can afford to appreciate and "collect" fine art, and will pay orders-of-magnitude higher prices for exceptional and limited-edition works printed by the artist.

Since I am in no way involved in the actual print production, and my stuff seems neither desirably rare nor esthetically exceptional, I've decided I should market primarily to the former group ... of course you're all welcome to buy some prints and change my mind!
