Anyone else up for this? Chris, you still up for noon. If you're coming, you gotta teach me about car photos. Rex, any developments with family day?

Not gonna be able to make it. I gotta cover for a coworker who's taking vacation time this coming weekend. As far as teaching you, make sure you use a zoom lens. Brand new paint=reflection=bad!!! =0P It's not easy to get good shots with a lot of people around. Just stay away from straight on points of view. Angles work best with cars...usually. ;0)

It looks like I won't be able to make it either, sorry. As far as shooting cars I have always heard a low view point always helps them look "meaty"

If you know what I mean.

Well did you make it?

Yeah, I dropped by for a bit after the rest of my weekend crapped out. I had a swimsuit shoot scheduled for Saturday and a family portrait for Sunday. No one showed so I went down there. Nothing to post just yet. I haven't had time to look at any of them yet. I might get some up by the weekend. I decided that I want the Ford GR1. Only two in the world right now, but sirely they'd make one for me. I'll show it to you soon.

I would have loved to go but there was no way I was convincing the wife to drive 4 hours to look at cars.

anyway we are taking the family to atlanta in june and I was wondering if there is anything that you guys would say we had to shoot before we leave.

Absolutely take a day to see the aquarium. All of you will enjoy it, and tons of photo ops there. One block away from the aquarium is Centennial Park. When it starts getting dark and the fountain is lit, there are also great shots there, and even some really cool ones in the day time. Over on the Jackson Street bridge, there is a great view of the skyline that I have shot a hundred times. Wonderful view.If you have time, try to check out Oakland Cemetery. Its been there since 1850 and its full of cool grave sites. Margaret Mitchell is there, as is Bobby Jones. Its also one of the few places that opposing soldiers are buried together, both confederate and those northerners. ;) There are lots of great skyscrapers to shoot downtown and into midtown, but parking and dealing with the homeless population almost makes it a hassle. You can also check out the High Museum of Art. They always have some great exhibits, and the exterior makes fro some cool photography. There is also the Botanical Gardens and Piedmont Park that sit side by side. Both offer many great captures of the skyline, neat flowers and strange people.

Since you are going to be up in Helen, I would recommend a trip over to the Clayton area. Just south of Clayton near US 441 there is Minnehaha Falls. Its a short 0.2 mile hike to the falls, and its a great capture. I'd also try to get over to the Mark of the Potter. Its a little building on the Soque River that does pottery right there and its also a short ride from Clayton on HWY 97. It has a nice waterfall out back, some of the largest trout you will ever see (even if you've fished Wyoming and Montana), but no fishing. While in Helen, check out the old flea market. You can pick up some great candids of the family twig up there.

I hope this helps, and if I think of anything else, I will let you know. I'd offer to meet up with you one evening, but we are planning on being in Wyoming fishing from May 30-June 10. If we decide to push that back and are around during that time, I will also let you know.
