If I buy a camera abroad (in China) will the warranty be valid at service centers in the US? I'm specifically looking at Canon and Nikon. Anybody know for either brand?

Sorry I dont have the answer to your question, but I know why you are asking.
China sells them cheaper by 10-20% from usual prices, dont they? ;)

If you travel to China often, then I think it's a safe purchase.

They might be a little cheaper, but not enough to make THAT much difference. I'm actually asking for a friend who is on the program with me. He's thinking about getting a DSLR (probably either 300/20D or D50/70) but most likely he won't be coming back to China, so any service would have to be done back in the States.
