#1 probability: your computer's been running too long and it's little brain can't keep track of the bits, and you get a timeout error. Try closing the browser, clear the cache, and reconnect; if that doesn't work, restart the computer. I find that fixes about 90% of the problems.
#2 probability: you are behind in your tithing to the Regent of Redmond.
#3 probability: server-side traffic or maintenance downtime causing hangs |

Do you have another browser available? You might try Mozilla or AOL (you can install a free account if you're not a member) to see if it's an IE issue, a Windows OS issue, or (local) hardware issue.
I'm not that much of an expert on solving Windows issues, sorry .... |

I've tried everything I can think of...except a new browser.

You can type every post as one long, continuous, run-on sentence without any kind of line or paragraph breaks or anything else which might trigger the browser to hang up ....
I'm using AOL 6/PC routinely, and have used the site OK with the latest stable release of Mozilla as well. Good luck! |

Sugest you try a different browser - Mozilla Firebird if you just want a browser will be great.
Also scan your machine for spyware - note not viruses, spyware

Ooohh, good idea. There is a recent article and links on spyware at Larry Magid's PC Answers site. |

What a relief --I was beginning to worry your machine might have a real problem. |

Oh, it's clearly something I've screwed up, not Microsoft. |

Yeah, yeah, blame the victim. If they'd written it right you wouldn't have been able (without deliberate effort) to mess up something like this. |
