Well, if you plan to buy the D70s body and then buy the 18-70 lens seperately, then you are going to pay more for it. The kit (lens and camera) is far cheaper than buying them seperately. If you're going for the D50, buy the lens seperately as the kit lens that comes with the D50 isn't so great. I have the 18-70 and it is awesome, but I am trading it in for the 18-200 just so I only have to haul one lens around Europe this summer. Anyway, good luck. If you go D70, go with the kit as the lens is awesome.

I'm really partial to the D50 with a Sigma 17-70 lens combo as the best bang for the bucks.
