Hmm...
Sometimes I think we need a DPC Event Map...
Where events can be displayed for regions. Click on a region and see upcoming public events that DPCers think are of interest.
Perhaps a type listing:
- Gallery Display
- Photographic Opportunity
- Merchant / Trade-Show
- Educational / Classes

| I sooooo wish I could go. I grew up in springfield and I have alot of family in west springfield. but theres no way im making it up from georgia to there any time soon. :( Hope you guys have fun and get some great shots! |

a similar event in early june in essex junction vermont. last year all the balloons drifted low right over our house, and landed at the golf course up the road a bit. the fair grounds is a couple miles away.

It turns out I can't come on Saturday. I can leave later on Saturday and be there most if not all of Sunday.

Should we write to the organizers and ask for some sort of shooting permissions? Access passes?
I am sending them an email about hotels, and was thinking of asking that, but looking for the right things to ask for, and the right way to ask it!

I did E-mail the Big E but got no response back from them
My wife and I are going saterday early and staying over on Sat night
maybe we will see some of you there
I would have keept this open more but site councel spanked me...
there are hotels in the area a geneal search will show all

Many Hot Air balloon shows like this have an evening "glow", "ballumination", or lighting. We have one coming up here in North Alabama called the Alabama Jubilee.
Any tips on getting unique photos during this type of event? |

| Just wanted to say that I can go any day but Friday, unless of course the illumination happens on Friday. I am about 30 miles away from Springfield, and even with gas at $3.10 a gallon it isn't what I would call a major expense. Anyway, I need to know who is actually planning on going and what day. Not sure if you need to buy an advance ticket for a specific day, or if it just has Good for Any day, etc. I have a Big Y less than 2 miles from me, so the ticket is as good as got. Anybody have a preference on what day? |

Hmmm, I really wanted to get some night shots. I know, I will go on Saturday, and stay through part of Saturday night. If you don't know the Big E grounds, just send me an updated pic of you and I will find you. The best place to meet is actually near the state buildings. Those are permanent buildings. Anyway, I will send you privately my cell phone number when it draws closer. Then you can call me when you get there.

I am definitely up for an evening shoot. Not too far from here. Saturday night...where will you be? I don't have a cell, but if you send me a number I am sure I can find a pay phone. I recall seeing one or two of those last time I was there.

Checking in to find out where everyone will be and when. I'm going to try and sneak away without the crowd of kids for a few hours and get down there, but I know we are spending the AM on Saturday in Newburyport at the music fest.
Any news? Any plans on meeting up with everyone - I may try to get there for dawn sunday..... |

It appears I cannot do the Sat overnight and Sunday dawn deal (80% sure) but can certainly do Sat afternoon/evening.
Where and when do we want to meet on Sat?
I plan to be there Sat mid arvo at the latest (more likely just before lunchtime) and want to stay for the burn and stuff in the evening before heading back to Boston.
I will likely bring my 7 year old (he has a camera, so will fit in :-). I am one of those rare people with no Cell/Mobile phone, so just need a place and time to look for a group of people with camera gear up to wazzoo :-) |
