Leaving today and will be in Weston, about 1/2 hour from Lauderdale. Anyone have tips or ideas for good shooting spots in or around that area, say within an hour or two radius? Be there for a week.
Thanks to anyone with info.

depending on far you want to drive, I like the following places for animal/insect images:
//www.monkeyjungle.com/
//www.parrotjungle.com/
//www.butterflyworld.com/
cool architecure at:
//www.vizcayamuseum.org/
and, of course all the cool art deco stuff in South Beach, Miami.
Here is a gallery of shots I have taken there:

Hey Cindy saw your posting so I thought I would supply you with some suggestions.
1) We have a 10th century Spanish Monestary down in North Miami Beach - yes here in FL thanks to William Randolph Hearst! The grounds and location are very beautiful. You can read the full story, find the location, and see times when you can visit (weekends and Fridays it is closed off to the public due to Weddings and special events)
//www.spanishmonastery.com/
I did a photo shot at the location and these two are a result of that shoot
2) If you are still in town on April 22 there is the Scottish Festival & Games at the Ft. Lauderdale Stadium & Grounds with lots of cool Scottish cultural events planned //www.sassf.org
3)Fairchild Tropical Gardens currently has some of Dale Chihuly's amazing glass works in display until May 2006 //www.fairchildgarden.org/
Just one example of the beautiful glass sculptures that you can find there:
4) Jaxson's Ice Cream Parlor & Country Store. //www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa3676/is_200508/ai_n14825959
A South Florida institution since 1956, offers up over 80 flavors of fresh homemade ice cream, served in large portions. There is the trademark "Kitchen Sink" dessert :-) They also have a nostalgic feel of an ol' time country store with ol' time tools and license plates adorning the walls. Oh yeah, did I mention you should bring a hearty appetite since the portions are BIG.
128 South Federal Highway
Dania, FL
5) If you want to see a really unique sport being played there is always Dania Beach Jai-Alai //www.dania-jai-alai.com/ . I have not been in several years but this facility and for that matter the sport may vanish from S. Florida as that I have heard through the newspapers of lack of interest and money to pay bills.
That is all I can think of at the top of my head at the moment.
Any questions, feel free to PM.
