I have a Kodak DX6490 digital camera. I have been trying to take some close up photos and am having the hardest time with it. I havent ever taken any classes so I dont know too much about cameras other than I love taking pics. Can anyone who has worked with this camera tell me what setting or anything that will help me take good close ups? (everythin is really grainy and fuzzy)
Thanks for any help!

Well, for one, are you putting it into macro mode? If you notice on the top, there is a button with a flower / mountain. You will want to hit the flower button until it shows that, and if your camera has it, a flower with an "s" means "super macro" which is for really close up pictures, like 1-2cm away from lens. (Although not sure if you have this feature)
Make sure you have adequate lighting or the camera won't focus too close. Also, you can always use your manual focus to set the camera's focus.

Post a picture so we can figure out what the problem may be.

"Grainy" may mean too high an ISO setting (needed if the light's inadequate) or that the file size/compression settings need to be checked.
Especially in Macro mode, your DOF (Depth of Field) will be narrow -- only objects as a precise distance will be in focus; and even more so if the aperture is wide open (again caused by low lighting conditions). |

Ok I think I had the ISO setting too high then. I was trying to get a macro of a flower and I had a flashlight shining behind it(experimenting). I dont have the pics with me (at work :D)
Some of the pics were grainy until I uploaded them onto my pc. But I will have to fix the ISO setting to see if that was the problem!
I will post them if I get any good ones!
Thanks for help |
