my dad has an old sigma 70-300mm lens... it FITS/locks onto my rebel... but i get that code error 99... unfortunately im too nub to kno any other details on the lens cuz i kno there are many diff types of these... the contacts look the same as the lense the rebel came with..

basically my question... lens locks/fits.. contacts look the same...does not equate to compatibility with my camera?

also, the contacts dont look that dirty...

thanks in advanced for anyone that can help..

some older Sigma lenses do not work with the Rebel. I've read that at one time Sigma was "rechipping" them for customers. You may want to contact Sigma.
