I'm looking to get a new P&S. I wan to upgrade on mega pixels and shutter lag. I want to feel the camera shoot the picture when I press the shutter. I was looking at the Casio EX-Z850...which seems fast in its specs but haven't held one and tried it out. Doesn’t look like anyone has one on hereâ€Â¦but maybe you all have something or have heard of one that is greatâ€Â¦or maybe something is about to come out that I might should wait for. I’ve searched threads and internetâ€Â¦I’m tired. Just thought I would ask here and maybe save me more work.

Try Olympus C70/C7000 Zoom. Its 7.1 MPs and has virtually no shutter lag. I have been using this from last 10 months...and its working just fine. I guess its around $400 now.

Is that considered a compact? I want something fairly small. I already have a large camera...want something I can carry around when I don't want to lug around the 20D.

I got a Canon Powershot SD-400. It boots up extremely fast and I take it with me wherever I go. It's almost too small. Sometimes I keep a little mini tripod attached just to have something to hold onto.

Check out the Fuji Finepix F10 (or if you can find it, the F11)
It has virtually no shutterlag, comparatively large sensor size, and a low noise sensor that goes up to ISO1600. Very compact so you can fit it into your jeans pocket. |

The FujiFilm S9000 has a shutter lag of 1/100th of a second... virtually zero. A person can not push the button fast enough.
I am looking at this camera as a back up to my Canon XT... |

Thanks guys...The Fuji F11 looks good but want a tad bit more MP, and thew S9000 is WAY too big...might as well carry my 20D. What about the Fuji E900?

I second Crayon's recommendation. The new version is the Finepix F30. Still 6.3 mp, but with full manual controls and expanded ISO up to 3200. The E900 looks good, too, but I'm not as familiar with it. 6.3mp is plenty for most uses since the noise levels are so minimal with these cameras. |

I cannot reccomend the CONTAX SL300R or the U4R enough.. both amazingly fast and clear quality.. I miss mine loads, The CONTAX company has closed down now but you can still get these cameras on e-bay and yahoo auctions.. quite cheap and absolutely brilliant to use |
