I know I am breaking the rule of putting a vertical line down the middle of my picture but if you read the details I tell why I did it. Was it a good move to do that and what is your take on this picture?

I don't see any problem with this composition. "Rules" are made to be broken, and sometimes a composition just like what you've done is right for the subject. It's not as extremely bilateral as you're suggesting anyway ΓΆ€” there are three vertical zones; the bricks, the pillar, the doorway. The doorway is divided distinctly into 3 zones from top to bottom, each filling roughly a third of the space. The brick walls has the fallout sign roughly a third of the way down.

And oh, yeah, there's a white "bar" at the very bottom left perfectly echoed by another white "bar" at the very top right.

In short, the whole composition has a specific and rational order to it that overlays the basic bilateral division. It's relatively complex and interesting.
