Langdon, here is one for ya.
A 'Thank You' box next to the 'Comment Was Helpful' box.
To me, not all comments are helpful, but I do want to acknowledge attempted remarks.
Why not have a 'Thank You' box. Alot of the time I want to just say "thank you".
This will give more options for the submitter, and at least acknowledgement to the viewer.

I guess I just don't understand what the big issue is about checking the square - whether a comment was helpful or not. If someone takes the time to tell me, "nice shot" or "beautiful image" then why not have the courtesy to mark it helpful? Okay, so it wasn't a huge help on your image but it just might help someone's confidence. I think having two seperate boxes; one for helpful and another for thank you could be taken as a bit of an insult if one was checked and the other wasn't. Personally I think a "comment appreciated" box only would remedy some of this. This way we wouldn't offend anyone by checking the "thank you for your comment but you didn't help me" box only.

How 'bout having this wording next to the box - "Checking this box acknowledges the fact that you have seen and read this comment. If you find it particularly helpful, or wish to say thanks, or if it pisses you off, please feel free to pm the commenter."
:-P
...ok, maybe without the 'pisses you off' part. ;-) |
