Hello,
Subject sould say Major element - advanced rule !
What is considered a major element?
Say your subject is the face of a TrumpetCAT (not my entry!)and there is a "blurry" branch above his head. Could I clone that branch out and be within the rules?
I'm thinking that a major element would be to clone out the TrumpetCats eyeball or something major on the "subject".
EDIT:
Can you give examples of what would be ok to clone out.
Thanks for your help.

Nope. A branch is a major element. |

It's mostly about prominence and impact. Anything significant in the image is generally a major element, whether or not it's the subject or intentional. A big branch = major, a stray twig = minor distraction. A stray twig going all the way across your image in an otherwise-blank sky = probably major. |

How long does it take to get an image validated before a challenge starts?

Update:
Thanks to a few responses, I've decided NOT to take a chance and did not clone out anything on my Textures entry!
I still think the shot is good...we'll see!
Thanks all.

You can't -- validation can only occur after the challenge closes and the voting starts. Thus, it can take anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of days, depending on when we get the original and when we have a chance to vote on it. |

I once read an explanation of that one (possibly by Scalvert?) that made a lot of sense. It went roughly like this:
"Get a couple of people to describe the photo. Whatever they include in the descriptions would be considered major elements"

Now that's a good explaination...and adds to my "not" cloning out an unwanted object!
