I have been scrounging every possible site to buy the new Nikon 18-200mm VR lens and I am now on the waiting list at Kenmore Camera for $699
I've just been to my local development store in Stellenbosch, South Africa, and there I see 3 boxes of these lenses on the shelf! This must be the only place in the world where they are currently available off the shelf. The problem is that in South Africa they sell for R8000, which is equivalent to $1300, almost double the price in the US. What's worse is that this is the recommended list price by Nikon South Africa
I get the feeling that somewhere someone is laughing all the way to the bank, and it's not me! |

you can order that lens from Yodobashi kamera in japan by mail order or even Senai camera in Chiba japan. You can get one also from yahoo auctions japan. I am surprised Nikon would do such a terrible thing, sorry to hear about that. good luck.

nikon has a bizzar price per country scheme
(in Canada) take the 105 macro is pegged as much as the new 105vr macro ...
i believe they pegged the price when (cnd) dollar really sucked (.65) and now that it is higher (.85) thay have never changed the price //

I ordered my 18-200mm early March and they say I might get it end of May... if I'm lucky. Patience, patience....

Hey Kosmik, it's hard to be patient if you can see it on a shelf 2 yards away, but price-wise it's just too far :d... (the dots are drool!)
Where did you order yours?
I also see you have the sigma 10-22, what's your verdict? |
