I was wondering what people think of this photo. I happen to think it's one of my best, but I know a lot of people don't like when there's a blur in the foreground, though I think it adds special depth and character. It makes me feel like I'm spying on my subject, or I'm in the frame.
your opinion?

Sometimes, blur in the foreground is fine. But in this case, it obscures the subject, which I find uncomfortable and distracting. |

Beautiful photo. 'Voyeuristic' framing is often taught as a compositional tool in photography classes and I think this photo illustrates how good it can look when applied well.
One reaction is that I wish the blur didn't cover the butterly at all but I am then immediately left fighting with myself as I really do like it as it is and I don't think it would have the same impact otherwise (I'm a confus[ing/ed] guy, what can I say).
Either way, very nice photo. |

it's all good - but the blob to the right of the bug is a distraction.
