I know how hard ligtning is to photograph, i just happened to get lucky and get this shot last Saturday night. I took about 40 to 50 shots of this awesome lightning storm while holding the camera as steady as i could and this was the only shot that i got.

Nice job! I drove past a pretty good lightning storm in N. California a couple of nights ago, but got no stills from inside the car. Isaac may have caught some on the video camera (I haven't reviewed the whole tape yet) but I think we just got flashes in the clouds, and no bolts.

Here are some I shot from above the clouds flying back from Chicago a couple of years ago. Lightning Off The Starboard Wing

Cool General! I'm a big storm fanatic, i want to someday go to Florida or somewhere where there are lots of storms and set up the tripod and do it right.

I think the two best lightning storms I've ever seen were outside of Eugene, Oregon, when I was about 10, and one in Kennedy Meadows near Yosemite in California when I was 17. We had a good one here in the East Bay a couple years ago, but I got no good shots then either ....

I just did a search for the phrase "Lightning Strike" and got some pretty interesting-looking results (which I can't check out until later) ....

Be sure to check out NASA's
Earth Observatory site.
