hey, i was wondering if anyone has any of those close-up lenses that magnify your 50mm; if so, can you tell me if it's worth buying?

IMO an extension tube is a better solution. Less expensive than good-quality glass, too.

I've used these before... they reduce the focusing distance of your lens, and/or magnify. I've had some luck with the 1x and marginal success with the 2x, but after that, and/or stacking them produces too soft of an image to be worth it...
The one's I use were given to me; I don't think I'd have them if I had to pay for them... |
