My score is all over the place. I started with a 10.... then went to bed with a 7.5, woke up with a 6.0 now back to a 6.3

I am definitely claiming the yellow "brown" ribbon!! That's what I get for shooting too many days before entry deadline and battling over which one to enter. I fair better with the crunch time!! Just hanging in the mid 4's ...yuk!

Hmm.
Looks as if I should have entered a snapshot of a flower...or just a yellow 640px x 640px solid yellow square.
Either of those would top my current score. :-)
Yeeouch.
So much 'wasted' time planning for and thinking about this challenge...

Ok, so it's just a really, really extreme crop that's been re-upsized, but seriously, OUCH.
and I mean OUCH.
It went up from 4.2 to 4.4 in 10 votes, then up to 4.5, but it's moving back downwards again.
Seriously, it's not THAT bad. It's sharp, in focus and contrasty......

I'm worried because I'm in a match-up against Pug-H whose average is a good half point higher than mine and this is the worst score I've had since I entered a post-typhoon snapshot to learn how to use USM and resizing...
It just feels like something weird is going on... It's probably lack of sleep ;) |

Yep. Over 6 is still below my goal, and several commenters have suggested EXACTLY what I did in the outtake that I didn't enter. :-( |

| Is this team thing really the way to go? There may be no way to prove it, but my guess would be that scores are going to be lower now that we have teams. Team members are collaborating and possibly communicating what photos they are entering with each other. Of course to get higher votes from team members, but also to allow team members to vote lower scores for all other good photos. If this is not happening with your team than it certainly is with another, because people want to win and under this new team order the motivation is present. I don't want to hear the argument that the same thing could have occured prior to the team competition. Someone may say that a person wanting to win badly enough may give every photo a score of 1 (which I'm sure is not beneath one or two people). However, that would have affected everyone equally. One of the big differences is that unser the team concept your team members can now vote for their own team's entries. On the flip side, receiving one or two unreasonably low scores is different than receiving them from an entire team or possibly from more than one team. This will most hurt those who are not participating on a team. That person will not receive the high votes from team members (because they don't have any) and will receive unreasonable low votes from other teams thinking that their nice entry might be from a competing team. I'm sure this system is fun for those involved and great to make close relationships with a small group of other photographers, but comes across as being exclusive rather than inclusive as the site has seemed to be in the past. As my post implys I fear that unless there are specific team challenges where the team approach is restricted to, this may be a huge negative turn for those who are not on teams and the site in general... Think about it... |
