Looks like a cool place to shoot. What time of day was it? You could probably get some really awesome shots if you could go back closer to sunset when the shadows are more pronounced. |

These look awesome. You'll have to try as Prism said too and see how it shoots at sunset. What's the history of this castle? Would love to know the details. |

The Castle was Built in the Mid 12th Century By Earl Henry of Northumberland. and was the scene of many Bloody Battles between The English Forces and the Scottish Raiding Parties.
The Castle was captured by the Scots who invaded England but it was regained in 1158 and by 1173 it had been transformed into a Garrison linking up with Bambrough Castle and Alnwick castle to provide a strong hold against any further Scottish attacks.
I suppose it can become coplacent to have so much heritage within the Region in which I live with The City of Newcastle on one side, and the Rural rugged coastline of the Northumbrian Coast Line on the other.
My intentions are to capture some of these wonderful scenes and share them with you.
Yesterday I had no intentions of specifically going to the Castle for photographs.
I had been to a Judo Competition near bye and when it was finished I decided to have a run out in the car with my Family along the Coastline
and called into the Castle.
It was 4.30 and it closes its gates to the public at 5.00 so my time inside was a brief encounter but it was a strange feeling as you could visualise how life was then and your imagination runs wild with you.
I will return to this place within the next coule of weeks as there is mountain of Daffodils which surround the embankment of the Castle and it would be a breath taking site, and hopefully I can capture some of those sunset images you were after. !
Cheers.
