I apologize if this has already been covered, but a search didn't turn up anything. I received my 30d last night and haven't slept since. One thing I noticed is that when I shoot in Raw + Jpeg mode, I end up with 2 jpeg files of the same size and attributes (ex IMG1234.jpg and IMG1234(1).jpg), and no Raw file. Anyone else experiencing this? Is there a firmware fix?

I'm at Firmware 1.0.4 if that means anything

That sounds very odd, mine's recording RAW+JPG fine, also at firmware 1.0.4.
What do you get if you shoot RAW only or JPG only?
Have you tried the 'Clear Settings' option?

Edit: There is a new firmware, stupidly also called version 1.0.4, here, but it's only supposed to fix some Chinese character problems. Maybe worth a try though.

Ok.... I get it. I've been downloading the files to my PC by the drag n' drop method via Windows Explorer. This works fine with JPEG or RAW, but not RAW+JPEG. However, if I use ZoomBrowser to download the images I can see both the Raw and the Jpeg files created via the RAW+Jpeg mode. It's odd that this not consistent, but I can live with it.

using a card reader or from the camera itself?
You can 'program' folder sizes and such now, so not sure if that is a factor or not.

My 30D is in transit....

I am reading directly from the camera. I have since learned that a card reader should solve this problem. However, I can't say, since I don't have one.

Might also be you are in the non AV,TV,M modes (I forget the name). On the 20D those don't create a RAW file even if you have RAW+JPG set - you need to be in one of the non pre-defined modes.

Nope, I'm in the "Creative" zone. Also, I wouldn't be seeing two .JPEG's for each shot
