Iceland sounds good ... but hey why don't you all come where your money is worth so much more .. .New Zealand ... ok the travel costs ... but really this is a rather cleanish greenish country with some fantastic shooting ops!

I'm all for this too! As much as I'd like to go to Iceland, even after two years, I know that I couldn't afford it. But somewhere in the States or Canada would be do-able. As Bear said, Cape Cod would be a good location.
Hope this becomes reality!

Is there a way to set up a Poll for everyone to vote on their favorite location?

Just a thought...

Let's for upper East Coast in the fall, to catch the changing of the leafs - I've always wanted to do that!

If Bear's cooking..........I am definitely in. The man is a genius in the kitchen, not to mention the fact that he could teach a lot of us some wonderful things about PhotoShop and photography issues.

*insert self serving post here*

Don't forget disney world, it's a good excuse to get the family on board... but honey we can go to disney for a few days and then I can take pictures with my DPC group for a few days *wink wink*

I think Orlando is the 2nd biggest convention destination for the amusment part draw.

Lemme see.....if I remember there's Disneyworld, Seaworld, Universal Studios, Gatorland.....I am sure there are others fantastic things to take into consideration.

Let's see, all within 1.5 hour driving distance from Orlando...

Canaveral National Seashore

Kennedy Space Center

Wekiwa Springs

Blue Springs

Another One

There is a ton to do withing a 1 to 2 hour drive from Orlando.

I would be for Africa. I've always wanted to do a photo safari.

Africa would be fantastic!

The other suggestion I really like is New Zealand as it's just so damn beautiful, South Island right?

hmmm, then again there is Iceland - Wow, however maybe a little too cold ;)

I'm unbelievably excited by the discussion that has occured while sleeping, then working today :)

Not sure where to go from here but let me see if I can sum up:

Locations up for discussion:
Iceland
Cape Cod
Orlando
Africa
New Zealand

Time:
1yr
2yrs

Topics
To be further discussed once above settled

Number of attendees
To be discussed

Any suggestions on how to ascertain probably the 3 most pressing issues being where, when & how many. I would really like to make this a reality but I need some definitive suggestions on how to move this along into something substantial. Can SC do a poll or something? Not sure......

that's nice... so there's nothing in Orlando, you have to drive 1.5 hours to see something ;)

all pictures DPC have seen from Iceland is within 8 hours drive from anywhere in Iceland.

but you only have to drive 20 minutes to have a completely new scenery to shoot, so you can drive around Iceland in 3-4 days stopping every 20 minutes for an amazing photoshoot.

and that's just the location close to the highway, then there are countless amazing places that can take up to 2 hours drive off the highway.

there is usually less then 1 hour drive between towns here so it's never far to go if you're hungry, need gas or a trip to the toilet :)

and about the comment earlier that your money isn't worth much in Iceland.. it's worth just as much here as it is anywhere else in the world. you just need more to have fun ;)

this sounds like a wonderful idea. I would need some serious money saving time but I am up for it. I have always wanted to visit the USA so Cape Cod is sounding good for me.
Hope you can cook some good vegetarian Bear :)

Cape Cod seems to be gaining some momentum. Can anyone explain to this poor ignorant Aussie girl exactly where that is? Talk to me in terms the big places like LA, NY, San Fransisco....

Cape Cod.. isn't that where the most boring TV series ever made were shot ?

Murder she wrote with Angela Lansbury..

I don't think there is a show that's more annoying...

When this World GTG is not going to use Iceland as a location it would sure be interesting to have a serious International Iceland GTG (not just a walk in the town).

And may I remind people that there is a European GTG with Kiwiness and Anastasia as hosts on Sunday the 16th of July in Münster Germany. Last time I checked there was still one place left for the Nude/Glamour workshop on the Saturday. Not to mention that some of us are already there fridaynight.

I know the idea is to have one big convention but that does seem to cut out some people because of distance/cost. Since Cape Cod and Iceland have both appealed what about two conventions at the same time, one in each venue? Then people could choose according to their situation.

Secondly I really think some form of sponsorship could be arranged. Again I question whether Langdon has any contacts or muscle to help here.

Thirdly if this is to come about we really need organisers who know what they are doing and also have the time. Are there any volunteers?

Fourthly for when, this year is not feasible if it is to be on the scale required to be a real conference and not just a big GTG. Next year possibly, Autumn (New England with Bear sounds good for this!) I think would be possible or the following Spring.

It would be very helpful to have a DPC member close to the chosen venue(s) to make arangements and fix problems on the ground rather than try working entirely at a distance.

We also need to make this idea open to all those members who do not visit the forums as many would be interested I am sure. Can SC help with this?
