Hi, I just recently purchased a macro lens and this is my first real attempt at macro photography. I was wonder how I could improve this photo so that in the future I can take better photos.
Also, sorry for the image being as big as it is. Does anyone know of a better site to host my photos other than photobucket?

since this isnt posted in a portfolio here Ill just have to leave you my comment in the thread.
I think you did a great job with focus and your processing (if any was done) is very well done too. The slight yellow color cast is a bit weird for me but one that can overlook that. The only real problem i feel this photo has is light. I would hvae liked to have seen this with alot more light. I feel the light should have been placed a bit farther above the moth instead of level to it. I think this would have given the photo a bit more depth.
All said, i think this is a great photo for a first time macro.
If you have any questions PM me....Ill help all i can.jUST MY PERSONAL UNPROFESSIONAL OPINION HERE

Sorry about the yellow tint. When I took the photo it looked fine in camera, but as soon as I tried to edit the image it was very dark on my computer screen. I see what you're saying about the light, unfortunately I don't think I could've done much to change it. I was afraid to use my flash because I didn't want the moth to fly away and this was shot with little light available.
Thank you for the feedback, I will keep it in consideration when taking more macros. |
