I am shopping for a good portrait lense. I will be shooting a lot of children. I have a Nikon D-50. Any suggestions in a variety of price ranges would be helpful. thanks!

50mm 1.8 most photog's either Nikon or Canon say this is a must have lens I agree. It sells for around $100 USD new
85mm 1.8
Another Must have and a fantastic portrait lens. It sells for around $379 USD new.

Then there are the zooms like the 70-200 2.8 VR or the less expensive 80-200 2.8

Good Luck!

Wazz, is correct, you definitely want a good 50mm prime in your stable for portraits with a dSLR.
