gone from 4.7 this morning to 5.57 tonight. quite the improvement !
i wasn't expecting my entry to score very well - but the photo is a continuation in a series i have going - and i am happy with it.
i didn't have the weather or time to reshoot what i wanted to enter.
if it finishes above my average i'll be very happy !

Don't you just despise those comments that seem to cut through your chest and rip out your pumping heart? |

The rest of the comment was constructive and helpful, and could have been said without calling my subject "boring". Wish you could mark PART of a comment helpful.

Same here Kashi...I am just learning the depths of Photoshop, and was told I should have done 3 different things in PS to make it better. I need a box that says : Thank you, the comment was helpful but I don't even know how to do that yet!

Or one for "I don't have THAT program, so I simply cannot do what you're suggesting"
Or one for "Sorry - it's just a P&S, this is the best I can do with it and my limited knowledge"

Awww, that's too bad about the "boring" comment. Those kind of things do hurt. Try not to take it to heart.
My entry isn't exciting any interest either. LOL Oh well. Next time around!

For what I entered, I think I am probably satisfied with this score. I like it, but I knew it wasn't a ribbon when I entered it. Just a shot that makes me smile.

lol oh yes I felt those same things when I first started.
I don't know what program you have- or if you have one. I'm using and elcheapo jasc psp8 and it does what I need it to do along with some free plugins.

Boring... is actually a very valuable comment, whether you shoot for DPC score or for any kind of presentation to other people (online galleries etc.)
I have nothing against warmFuzzy one-line comments left on my photos - I appreciate the time people took to appreciate/recognize my work.
However, when someone takes the time to leave a comment that states 'boring' plus gives a constructive and helpful suggestion - I would place that person on my favourites list and send him a thank you note!
It is not that he/she wrote "What the f*&^% were you thinking when taking this shot!?" - boring is an adjective that would not be considered rude, but rather describe the effect _your_ photo left on _him_/_her_.
Of course, take it as you wish, but I'm saying that we should have more comments like that one here. That way I would know where did all those 1s, 2s, and 3s come from and perhaps improve.
oh, I'm lingering around 6.2x, this has been my best week ever on DPC. 3 images in 3 challenges, all above 6. |

I see your point, and in part agree with you.
I just feel that the statement of "boring" adds nothing to the constructive comment that followed. In fact, the comments would - for * ME * have more weight without the first part.

I use PSP and love it. I have Photoshop but haven't managed to tackle learning it all yet. I've used PSP for years. :) |

I would love to have photoshop, but I think I'll stick what I have for now lol. I keep saying I'm going to get PSPX but then find a reason not to. Between PSP8 and the plugins I found I can do quite a bit. ANd it's funny how I've learned to do myself what the plugins do! |

Well hey, that's better then nothing :o) Funny when I bought PSP8 I didn't even buy it for photo editing. I don't know why I bought it. Everyone was using PSP for other things and I got 3 free programs when we bought the computer and that was one I picked. I never knew it would come in so handy a year later!

I am just so proud of my picture. I think I finally hit the nail on the head editing wise as far as what to use when. |
